Happy Halloween 2009!

Happy Halloween!

Nicali decided to be Ariel and Hannah is the Snow Queen. It was a full moon, 71 degrees and very nice to be walking up and down the neighborhood. They were both so cute and made a haul because we don't get many kids in our area so they neighbors wanted to make sure the candy didn't stay in their own home. The girls so sweetly shared with their brothers and their 4 friends because the boys didn't go Trick or Treating (one disadvantage of being a teenager) :(

A Night On the Town & A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Here are some videos of Hannah singing some songs learned in Music in school. She is too cute to keep to myself - I had to share.

Lucky Girl

Nicalil recently brought these home from school. I thought they were cute. It's nice to know that she appreciates her family, friends and home. What a great girl! I am the one who is lucky because she is my daughter.

Smith Mountain Lake Camping Trip

This last week we went camping up in the "mountains" at Smith Mountain Lake. The reason I put quotation marks around mountains is because we were at about 1100 feet. That elevation qualifies as foot hills in the west, but since I'm not in the west I will call them mountains. It was beautiful! We had some rain but we had a travel trailer so we stayed dry! We hadn't been camping since we moved to Virginia so Philip and I decided it was time to get our kids (and us) back out camping. It was so fun being with the kids. We fished off a pier one afternoon. You can see in the pictures each of the kids hanging over the edge of the pier and lying down sunning themselves. After a while Hannah came over quite sad and said that she had dropped her fishing pole off the pier. Philip put his biggest lure on his fishing pole and went fishing for a fishing pole. He had seen my dad go fishing for a bicycle one time off the docks in Hells Canyon. Luckly Hannah's pole had a bobber on it so we could tell where it was even though it was several feet under the water. It was the best catch (and only catch) of the day! We also hiked down to Turtle Island and fished there. Jacob caught a big fish but as he was getting it on the rocks it slipped off and swam away, but we all saw it! It was big! In the jerkey bag is a bunch of shells the girls collected. So much fun and so many great memories. The girls also participated in the Easter egg hunt the state park hosted.

Temple Trip

Tuesday we went to the Washington DC temple for a Young Men/Young Women trip. It was so awesome. Heather watched Nicali & Hannah so Philip and I could go together. There were 14 boys and 14 girls. Great turnout!

Snow Day! March Comes in Like a Polar Bear!

Yesterday, March 1 came storming in not like a lion but more like a polar bear! Snow, snow, snow!!! School was cancelled and that thrilled the kids. 4.3 inches of snow fell last night (the season's total so far was .3 inches.) It is wet and heavy, perfect for playing in but not driving in. I was visiting a friend while it was snowing and when I got home I couldn't get up the driveway. I kept sliding back down. I had to have Philip try several times before he finally got it in the driveway - with the request that there was no leaving the house today.

Father and Sons

Philip and Joshua went to get their haircut this evening. Philip would have taken Jacob, but Jacob wanted me to cut his hair instead. He doesn't like to spend the time in the chair at the barber shop; when I cut his hair he gets to choose the show he watches on TV. I only have one style. I used to cut Joshua's, but that was too traumatic for our relationship. Joshua loves to have his hair long, and as I said, I only know how to cut hair one way. So I thought I would take an "after" picture of my three handsome guys.

Basketball Season Comes to an End

Joshua's been playing basketball for a local association. They've had a really good year - won some, lost some. Joshua's made great improvement in his shooting abilities, defending capabilities and his footwork (pivot foot). Today was the first round of the tournament (single elimination). It was so close, unfortunately his team lost in the last 47 seconds. He's jersey number 1.

Hannah's PE

I went into the school to help in Hannah's PE class. They have so many fun toys to play with in PE! I don't remember having things like she has.
